Gilbert Doesn't Mince His Desires →
In Gilbert Arenas latest blog post he makes it clear what type of contract he wants: Clearing Up My Contract I want to get a six-year deal. I want to be a max player. If my team decides that they don’t want me here any more and they’re going to go in a different direction, then I got to look elsewhere. For me to look elsewhere, I want to go find a championship team who’s a championship...

No More Cascade →
D.C. Councilwoman Mary Cheh introduced a bill to ban phosphates. Read the full article for details. A 20-year-old D.C. law bans the sale of most phosphate-containing household cleaners, with the exception of dishwasher detergents. Cheh’s legislation, backed by nine of her colleagues, would limit the amount of phosphorous in those products to 0.5 percent by weight — less than what is found in most...

Dupont Cinema Closes →
Dupont Circle has been suffering in recent years (read: more chains, less character), and I don’t think that the closing of its only remaining movie theater (for a retail store) is going to reverse that trend.  [via Washington Post]

Bike Rentals Hit D.C.
There was some great news this week about a potential program starting in D.C. for people to rent bikes from kiosks. This was mentioned by Ward 6 council member, Tommy Wells, on his blog. Here is part of the entry:DDOT is considering an automated bicycle rental system in DC in partnership with Clear Channel. Similar to car sharing, the system would allow members to swipe a card and release a bike...

Fenty Runs The Schools
This is a very historical and political time to be living in the District. Now with Fenty in full-swing with his public school take-over, things should be interesting to watch unfold. Graham's bill tabled
According to the City Desk, Jack Evans motioned to table Taleshia Ford Memorial Amendment Act of 2007.This is the Act from Jim Graham that keeps minors out of nightclubs based on alcohol restraints. This is good to see that this bill is getting tabled. Even though it should be thrown out as reactionary and controlling legislation.Remember Ian MacKaye’s response. View it here.

This looks like a cool exhibit opening Saturday.
